New Adventures

Short and Sweet: Selous- 5 days

Journey into the Selous Game Reserve, Africa’s largest protected wildlife area.  Fly into a pristine wilderness, far off-the-beaten track, and enjoy unmatched wildlife experiences, searching for animals on game drives, boat excursions and bush walks.  Explore the park’s diverse habitats - grass plains, flourishing wetlands, lagoons, lakes, and dense forest.  Observe great herds of elephants on the banks of the Rufiji River.  Choose one of three exclusive, remote accommodations, from ultimate luxury in the bush- spacious safari tents, cottages with private verandahs and alfresco showers, swimming pools, and billiard tables- to “fly-camping” in  simple mobile tents on a walking safari, for a more authentic safari, sleeping under the stars.   No matter which accommodations you choose, Selous offers an unforgettable adventure few tourists are lucky enough to experience.

This safari begins and ends at Dar es Salaam International Airport.

Day 1

Dar Es Salaam - Selous
On arrival at Dar es Salaam International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our representative, who will drive you to your hotel. Despite its name, which means 'abode of peace' in Arabic, Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's largest and busiest city. It is the country's most important business and commercial hub and is situated right on the Indian Ocean. It is the ideal place from which to access both the wilderness areas and the beaches of Tanzania and Zanzibar. Most visitors en route to the better-known Tanzanian attractions are surprised by the charm of this unassuming city and find themselves yearning for more time to explore its hidden secrets.

Spend the night in a luxury suite at The Oyster Bay. Your stay is on a fully inclusive basis.

Day 2

Dar Es Salaam - Selous Game Reserve
Enjoy a wholesome breakfast before you are driven back to Dar es Salaam International Airport, where you will board a scheduled flight to the Selous Game Reserve.  On arrival, a vehicle will be waiting to take you to your lodge or camp.

Secluded and off the beaten track, the Selous Game Reserve offers a slice of undisturbed wilderness, teeming with a spectacular array of fauna and flora. Its dramatic landscapes and great diversity of wildlife has earned it the status of a World Heritage Site. The Selous is one of the few big game reserves to allow hiking, offering wildlife enthusiasts the chance to explore Tanzania's pristine landscapes on foot.

Enjoy three nights at your choice of the following:

• A stone and palm thatch banda at Beho Beho. Your stay includes three meals daily, all drinks (except champagne), laundry and safari adventures. Adventures include walking safaris, boat cruises and game drives.

• One night in an open-fronted thatch cottage at Sand Rivers, followed by two nights of fly-camping in a charming tent set on a sand bank or close to one of the lakes.  Your stay includes three meals daily, all drinks (except champagne), laundry, safari adventures, and picnic and bush lunches. Adventures include game drives, walking safaris, a boat cruise and fishing.
