Day 1 - Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you first will pass customs and receive your luggage. You will leave the airport and meet your chauffeur waiting for you outside. He has a sign with your name on it. Kilimanjaro Airport is a small airport and you cannot miss him.

Set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal clear waters on the slopes of Mount Meru, Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to relax and simmer in the immense beauty of East Africa. The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it is one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha.  Here you can spend the days amid nature, watching the changing colors of the Kilimanjaro glaciers while sipping drinks on the verandah or hiking in the forest inhabited by colobus and Sykes monkeys as well as hundreds of small animal and bird species.



Day 2 - Arusha – Lake Manyara

After breakfast your guide will be waiting for you at your accommodation in Arusha. You will drive to Lake Manyara (approximately 2 hours). During the drive you can enjoy the African landscape and the Maasai bomas (villages) surrounded by thorn bushes. In Makuyuni you will turn right and soon you will see the “wall” of the Great Rift Valley arise. Right before the edge of the rift you will leave the main road and drive into the park.  Later in the afternoon you will depart the park and drive to your accommodation with a beautiful view of the lake that you have visited today.

Day 3 - Lake Manyara – Serengeti

After breakfast you will drive to the famous Serengeti National Park. On the way you will already be able to catch a glimpse of the Ngorongoro Crater.  Vast savannahs full of wildlife and flat-topped acacias cover a third of Serengeti National Park. During the day you will drive to the central part of Serengeti while game viewing.  At the end of the afternoon you will arrive at your accommodation in the Serengeti.

Day 4                 Serengeti

Serengeti National Park is Tanzania's oldest game reserve and was recently proclaimed to be a seventh world wonder. It is famed for its annual migration, when six million of antelopes join the wildebeest's trek for fresh grazing.  Naturally, you will see herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, eland and impala as well as lion, leopard, cheetah, jackal and a host of more elusive small predators as aardwolf and serval cat.  During the afternoon you will return to your accommodation for a sundowner.

Day 5 - Serengeti

You will have game drives in central Serengeti and then slowly head towards the south again. The Seronera River Valley is located centrally in Serengeti between a network of rivers, which foresee this area with water throughout the year. As a result, this area permanently has an almost infinite variety of large and small predators making it a good area to do game drives. The area is home to big cats such as cheetahs, lions and leopards, which the latter are fairly easy to spot due to the lack of trees in the valley. Seronera marks the natural boundary between the open grass savanna in the south and the more densely vegetated tree and shrub hills in the north.  Leaving Serengeti, you will pass the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the Maasai, shrouded in their colourful cloths are herding their          cattle and you might even see more giraffes, gazelles, elephants and zebra's. In Tanzania, the parks are not fenced, so the wildlife can move from one area to the other. Not far from the crater you will have your overnight while enjoying a beautiful view.

Few places are worthy of travel for the experience of staying there alone… the Crater Lodge is one of them.



Day 6 -  Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will visit one of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world! The Ngorongoro Crater is a unique protected area where conservation of natural resources is integrated with human development. Daily Maasai with their herds of cattle descend into the crater to drink. They are the only people allowed to be in the crater without a vehicle. In the afternoon you will depart the crater (after a maximum allowed stay of six hours) and drive to the nearby village Karatu.

Country Lodge is located on the outskirts of Karatu, a quaint country town on the Great Escarpment, midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.  Garden paths lead to eleven double cottages surrounded by green lawns, hedged by brightly flowered bougainvillaea, tropical plants and trees. Birds and butterflies feel right at home in the garden just as you will in your cottage.  Relax on comfortable veranda furniture and enjoy the lush grounds, watch the sun rise or set before heading out on your safari or retiring to our main lodge for breakfast or drinks and dinner.

Ngoronogoro Farm House, built on a 500 acre coffee plantation, with its hand plaited thatched rooftops, large verandas, and colonial interiors, will take you back to past times. Take a walk around the farm to contemplate the daily activities, relax in the fragrant gardens or enjoy the spectacular sunsets with the Oldeani volcano as a backcloth.

The Plantation Lodge is located on landscaped grounds near the town of Karatu.  All rooms and suites within the owner-run lodge are unique and have been furnished with great attention to detail. The excellent restaurant regales guests with choice fare every evening. After a safari, there are many ways of seeing out the day in a relaxed manner: bathing in the pool, indulging in a massage, going for a walk in the garden or enjoying a sundowner on the bar’s terrace.



Day 7 - Tarangire

Today you will travel from Karatu towards Tarangire.  You will visit Mto wa Mbu situated at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment and experience their culture.  Not long after leaving Mto wa Mbu you will enter the bush at your left site. A short drive takes you to a small Maasai Boma (Maasai village). Here you can experience how the Maasai, a semi-nomadic tribe, live.  You will continue your safari to the Tarangire.

Day 8 - Tarangire

Today you will enjoy a full day game drives in Tarangire National Park. During your game drives in the park you will regularly pass or follow the Tarangire River, because the river crosses the northern part of the park. This foresees the park of water year round.  You will spot an abundance of wildlife in the park, such as lions, buffalos,leopards, and huge herds of elephants as well as a large diversity of birds.  You will also see wide spread acacia bushes, the palm trees, the enormous baobab trees, which are often hundreds of years old and also swamps, savanna and rivers.  Following the game drive, you will return to your accommodation.

Day 9 - Arusha

Following breakfast, you will be driven back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport where you will board a flight to Uganda.

Day 10 - Entebbe

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be transferred and check in at Protea Hotel Entebbe.  Depending on your flight, you may visit the botanical gardens in the afternoon and later enjoy a sunset cruise to the Equator with drinks and snacks included.

Following breakfast, transfer to the airport for a scheduled flight to Kasese Airstrip.  Arrive at Primate Lodge and check in.  Enjoy lunch and relaxation followed by a nocturnal guided walk in Kibale Forest National Park, known as the “Primate Paradise”, to see the creatures of the night.

Day 12 - Kibale

Today the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimpanzee Habituation experience.  Return back to the lodge for a late lunch then in the evening enjoy a guided nature walk through the Bigodi wetland.

Morning transfer to Kasese Airstrip for a flight to Kihihi Airstrip.  Drive through traditional homesteads and arrive in Bwindi National Park.  Check in and enjoy lunch followed by an evening village walk meeting the locals and engaging in the community.  Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 14 - Bwindi

Following breakfast, transfer to the national park offices where you will be allocated a gorilla family in as well as a gorilla tracking guide.  Following the pre-tracking brief by your guide, you drive to the trailhead for the start of your hike in steep and sometimes muddy conditions  with rain overhead, which can be tough and require a degree of fitness.  Granted the time taken can be quite unpredictable taking anything from 2 to 8 hrs or longer. Afterwards, you hike back to base and on to the lodge for a well-deserved shower and lunch or dinner depending on the time taken on the trek.
