Overnight: Samburu Intrepids Camp

Dry, and rugged, Samburu’s landscape is stunning, with its iconic loaf-shaped Lolokowe Mountain and hills spreading in every direction.  In this arid zone, where water is scarce and the land baked by the sun, wildlife is attracted to the park’s Usao Nyiro River, which runs through the craggy terrain full of stone, thorn bush and the forked doum palms.  Residents here include herds of elephants and the big cats, as well as species endemic to this area, such as the gerenuk, also known as the 'giraffe necked antelope’, Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and Reticulated giraffe. With its abundant wildlife and magnificent scenery Samburu is a wonderful and unique destination.

Samburu Intrepids
Samburu Intrepids, located in Kenya’s semi-arid north, is a lush oasis on the banks of the great Uaso Nyiro River in Samburu Game Reserve. There are 28 modern and newly refurbished tents, each with a private view overlooking the river, where you may see elephants coming to drink, or crocodiles lounging by the river bank. Intrepids boasts the very latest in luxury camping, with soft beds, handsome mahogany closets and a writing desk, as well as an ensuite bathroom with a steaming hot shower, twin washbasins, a flush toilet and sockets for shavers and battery charging. Guests at Samburu Intrepids can enjoy game drives in Samburu as well as the adjoining Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, where you can see a natural spring pool believed to have medicinal properties. Some visitors choose to take a ride on a camel, to the Samburu villages on the land opposite the reserve.

Serena Sweetwaters Camp
A sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole and set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters Serena Camp offers a charming blend of tented ambiance and safari luxury.  Located on the plains of Mount Kenya, the camp features 39 luxury tents, each with its own private verandah overlooking the waterhole. The central Rhino Restaurant is located in house of the former manager of this property, which used to be a colonial farm, and offers both regional and international cuisine. There is also the Kashoggi Bar and lounge, with a blazing log fire. The Waterhole Bar, built in the style of a game-viewing hide, overlooks the waterhole and offers a unique wildlife watching experience, as you sit in comfort with a drink.

Located in the Great Rift Valley, it is a park of great ecological diversity, providing a haven for a variety of wildlife, such as lion, giraffe, buffalo, warthog, waterbuck, impala, zebra, gazelles, eland, hyrax, and the occasional leopard.  It also attracts 400 migratory bird species from around the world and large flotillas of pelicans.  The park is also one of the few places to see the endangered white rhino.

Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge
Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge overlooks spectacular Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic views of the lake and the picturesque park.  It is cleverly laid out in such a way that most rooms and sitting areas afford stunning views of the lake and the park. The Masai Mara Game Reserve is the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views (as seen in the film "Out of Africa", much of which was filmed here), and an extraordinary density and variety of animals, including "the Big Five" (lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino), elephant, lion, leopard and many varieties of plains game.  Gameviewing is excellent here in any season. In addition, an impressive spectacle occurs here every year - the Great Migration – when two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle travel from the plains of the Serengeti, cross the Tanzanian border and rivers, and reach the Mara's grasslands in late June.  This enormous group of animals attracts a variety of predators, including lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena, as well as vultures circling overhead as their journey unfolds. Their dangerous river crossings provide a dramatic spectacle for tourists visiting in early July-August.

Mara Intrepids Camp
Overlooking the Talek River, at the junction of the Mara’s four game-viewing areas, Mara Intrepids enjoys one of the most spectacular locations in the entire ecosystem.  It is a short drive from the Mara River, where more than a million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every July and August. For the remainder of the year, the camp offers some of the world’s finest game viewing, with large local populations of plains game, elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and all the Big Cats.  Mara Intrepids Lodge combines luxurious accommodation and fine dining with warm hospitality and experienced guiding.
The Lodge consists of 30 elegant tents with views over the river. Guests sleep in large poster beds in luxury tents with modern ensuite bathrooms, with hot showers and private mini-bar. Facilities include a dining terrace as well as small riverfront dining areas with private catering, a bar overlooking the Leopard-baiting area, a swimming pool with sunbathing terrace, an elevated game-viewing platform, a bush boutique with souvenirs and safari essentials, and reliable telephone,
